mWater is free.
The mWater platform is free to use for governments, NGOs, service providers, researches, businesses, and community-based organizations. There are no per-user fees, and no data limits for standard use. You can sign up and start working today.
There are four ways organizations typically engage us beyond the free platform. When you work with us on one of these services, you help fund the platform’s ability to remain free for everyone else.
Tiers of support
1. MIS for national or program monitoring. For ministries, regulators, and large programs running a national or sector-wide monitoring information system, we build and support dedicated MIS deployments with indicator definition, data collection workflows, dashboards, integrations with existing government systems, and ongoing training and technical support. This is the tier most national governments ask about when they want mWater to serve as their official sector monitoring system.
2. Light Blue: your customizable mWater hub. Light Blues are part of mWater's partnership solution as a fully customizable site framework that lets you build a tailored hub for all your mWater activities.
With a Light Blue, you design and organize pages to fit your organization's needs. Pull in content from the mWater Portal and other sources, arrange it in any structure you choose, and create your own navigation to highlight what matters most. You're in complete control of visibility. Add public pages to showcase your impact, private pages for internal monitoring and evaluation, and secure sections for individual country programs or offices.
One-time cost: USD 50,000, which includes your own Light Blue website, permanent access to website management, 5 days of advanced support and consultation from mWater, and permanent priority support.
3. Custom app configuration. For organizations that need the mWater Surveyor app tailored to a specific program with custom branding, feature controls, automations to reduce data entry errors, preloading of site data to each device with site caching rules, limitless full-resolution images, and the option to route problem reports directly to your team. Light Blues and custom app configs pair especially well together: the app collects exactly what you need, and the Light Blue is where your team and stakeholders see it.
As one long-time partner put it: "My only regret at this point is that we did not invest in the configuration sooner." — Allan
One-time cost: USD 25,000. Includes up to 5 configurations per organization (so you can run different versions by country, program, or project), unlimited users on each, and 3 days of personalized consulting, training, or workshopping with the mWater team.
4. Implementing a data-driven program. If you are designing a new program or responding to a funding solicitation, we can help develop project ideas, sample statements of work, terms of reference, and cost estimates, and partner on delivery. We also offer paid training and technical support for teams adopting the platform, and in many countries we can connect you with a local consultant already trained in mWater.

Who we are
mWater has both a for-profit arm in Solstice, a US-based small business (qualified as a Woman-Owned Small Business according to US SBA guidelines), and a non-profit arm, also based in the US. We have experience working under US government contracts and subcontracts, cooperative agreements, competitive procurements and partnership agreements with international organizations (including UNICEF, WHO, and World Bank), and smaller contracts with NGOs, academic institutions, and private sector companies.
If you are interested in developing a data-driven approach for your program or an upcoming funding solicitation, contact us and we can help advise on a partnership approach. Please note that we do not have unrestricted funding and we are not a public charity, so we do not make grants or provide free support other than that which we offer all users of our free software platforms. All partnerships require an external funding source. That said, if you are a community-based organization, government, or service provider, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to connect you with free resources in our platform and any external funding opportunities that we can identify.
Here are some ideas on how to integrate our support into water, sanitation, and health programs:
National and regional monitoring information systems (MIS) or sector monitoring systems, including indicator definition, data collection, visualization, and training and support
Utility and service provider data systems, including key performance indicator monitoring, asset management, meter reading and fee collection, financial accounting, operations and maintenance, and customer service / public engagement
Water resource management data systems, including site-based hydrometeorological data, hydrogeological data, well logs, and water use permits
Sanitation service provision and regulation, including data systems for fecal sludge management providers, regulatory monitoring and inspections, and sewerage infrastructure asset management and planning
Monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) platforms for water, sanitation, and health programs, including research design, methods and indicator development, and research reports and knowledge management
We can help develop project ideas and can provide sample statements of work, terms of reference, and cost estimates for various types of projects.
If you require training and support for your organization in using the mWater software platform, we offer several tiers of paid training and technical support. In many countries, we can also connect you with a local consultant trained in using the mWater platform.
